Allston-Brighton is a true melting pot of Bostonians and its housing. This neighborhood has it all - families, college students, hipsters, young professionals, etc. You name it, they live here. The Allston-Brighton neighborhoods are located west of Boston proper with sections along the Charles River and home to three of the finest schools in the country: Harvard University, Boston College & Boston University.
Its main thorough fares are Commonwealth & Brighton Avenue, intersected by Harvard Avenue which are lined by 4-5 story brick apartment buildings. For all of their similarities, Brighton has far more single family homes which gives it a more residential feel. Public transportation ( T ) is very good, and there is also easy access to the MA Turnpike & Storrow Drive.
Housing costs in these neighborhoods remain affordable, by Boston standards which makes this neighborhood a strong draw for all types of homebuyers.
